Schumann (2014, this issue) and Patrick (2014, this issue) both made valuable suggestions regarding how to move beyond the impasse created by the burden of correcting for multiple tests, and we agree with the majority of our commentators that multi-investigator consortia built from pooled, harmonized data collected across many laboratories is one way to overcome this problem.
