We also found other X-linked and autosomal genes with sex-biased expression and distinct spatiotemporal patterns, including functionally uncharacterized transcripts (LOC554203, C3ORF62, FLJ35409, and DKFZP586), S100A10 (which has been linked to depression22), and IGF2 (an imprinted autosomal gene previously implicated in brain growth and cognitive function23,24) that exhibited population-level male-biased developmental expression (Fig. 2c).
