Text

Family history of alcoholism has been associated with other notable results. In one study, intoxicated alcoholics, both with and without a family history of alcoholism, had problems on cognitive tests sensitive to temporal lobe functions (e.g., memory). On tests sensitive to frontal lobe functions (e.g., planning and judgment) however, only alcoholics with a positive family history of alcoholism performed poorly (Peterson et al. 1992).
