To validate the cis-regulation of Per3, we measured allele specific expression in B6D2F1 and D2B6F1 hybrids.46, 47 Three SNPs in the 3′ UTR and a SNP in exon 15 of Per3 were used to capture expression differences between the D and B alleles. The allele-specific expression analysis confirms that the D allele has approximately twofold higher expression than the B allele (Table 1) and that the effect is almost entirely due to one or more local polymorphisms.
