The autosome-wide significant threshold is set as the 95th percentile of the 22,000 lod scores. The empirical “suggestive” and “significant” thresholds for AA (EA) are 1.77 (1.74) and 3.22 (3.19), respectively (Table II). The autosomal empirical significance of an observed lod score was determined by counting how often the entire genomehad a maximum lod score greater than or equal to the observed lod score from the above 1,000 simulated estimates.
