The findings of our study represent a valuable platform for the development of various intervention and prevention programs aimed at university students as an important group of the population. Mental health and unhealthy patterns of behaviour of university students are a frequently discussed topic, underlining the need to pay special attention to this vulnerable population, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This period associated with isolation may adversely affect them in terms of increased stress, anxiety, or depressive thoughts [23]. As already mentioned, these difficulties can affect students’ health, well-being, and their patterns of health-related behaviour [24,25,26,28,29,68,83,84]. Last but not least, it is possible to consider mental and behavioural disorders in terms of their socio-economic consequences, which affect individuals, their families, but also society as a whole. The economic burden of these disorders is considerable, which is reflected in increased direct and indirect costs, such as lost productivity and health-related costs [10,11,12,13,14,15,17,18]. For these reasons, stress, depression, and alcohol consumption should not be overlooked.
