respect to the adjusted model – adjusted for sex difference by controlling for demographic, diagnostic, and MA use variables -- females were more likely to be educated less than 9 years (OR=1.6, 95% CI=1.0-2.4, p=0.034), be widowed, divorced or separated (OR=2.2, 95% CI=1.1-4.3, p=0.019), and be unemployed (OR=8.0, 95% CI=5.2-12.4, p<0.001); and less likely to have ASPD (OR=3.7, 95% CI=2.2-6.4, p<0.001), compared to males. In addition, females were more likely to have initiated MA use later than males (age of onset > 18 years old; OR=2.7, 95% CI=1.7-4.2, p<0.001) and use MA with greater intensity during the heaviest period of use (daily MA pills ≥ 5; OR=1.5, 95% CI=1.0-2.3, p=0.045) (Table 3).
