In order to keep the number of electrodes equal across each region, only 6 electrodes from each region were selected (as some regions had only 6 electrodes). We treated electrodes as nested within region, as we were interested in the “region” effects but not in the individual “electrode” effects. Age was included as a covariate in the ANOVA model as age as a factor is known to have a significant influence on the ERP measures (Walhovd et al., 2008).
