Children included in the analyses for this study were drawn from a randomized controlled trial (RCT) examining the relative effectiveness of group and individual formats of the Coping Power program. The RCT involved 360 children recruited from 20 different elementary schools. The recruitment process involved screening by both teachers and parents for eligibility. First, fourth grade teachers completed a rating of proactive and reactive aggression (Dodge, Lochman, Harnish, Bates, & Pettit, 1997) on each student in their classes. Across all schools, children who scored in the top 25th percentile were considered eligible for the parent screening.
