Evocative rGE cannot be ruled out, though how it would be operating in this context in a way that is not accounted for by other components of the model is not clear. Regardless of the underlying mechanism, genetic influences on alcohol use and perceived peer alcohol use become stronger over time: not only does the heritability of each phenotype increase over time, the genetic covariance between phenotypes also increases.
