To estimate the impact of the KCNJ6 A1032G polymorphism on gene expression level, the relative KCNJ6 mRNA expression level was compared between the genotype subgroups of the SMRI samples in the real-time qPCR. The relative expression level (mean±SEM) was 1.59±0.17, 2.07±0.08, and 1.99±0.06 for the A/A, A/G, and G/G genotypes in the A1032G SNP, respectively (Figure 3), demonstrating that the expression level was 0.76–0.80 fold lower in the A/A genotype than in the A/G and G/G genotype. The difference was significant between the A/A genotype and combined A/G and G/G genotypes (t 98 = 2.265, P = 0.026).
