Differences among the inbred strains for the measures of novelty seeking are described in Supporting Text, which is published as supporting information on the PNAS web site, and shown in Fig. 4 A–F. The strain-effect sizes for all dependent variables are shown in Table 1, and strain-effect sizes within each of the two passes of the experiment are shown in Table 2. Strain-effect sizes were highest for activity measures, preference for the novel environment, and head dipping (R2 ≥ 0.55).
