Each of the five candidate GPSs was strongly associated with observed BMI (p < 0.0001), with similar correlation coefficients ranging from 0.283 to 0.292 (See also Table S1). Nearly identical results were obtained after adjustment of each of the candidate GPSs for genetic background, as assessed by principal components of ancestry (Table S2). We selected the best score, with correlation of 0.292, to take forward into four testing datasets below.
