Text

The most serious problem is related to candidate gene association studies and is concerned with high probability of false positive findings. The main source of this problem is a dangerous combination of two factors known to increase the rate of Type I error: small sample size and multiple comparisons. This problem is not limited to genetic psychophysiology research and has already raised substantial concern in other fields employing candidate gene approach.
