(2005) reported a trend towards association of BDNF variants with substance abuse, Jiao et al. (2011) reported an association with obesity, and Lang et al. (2007) and Beuten et al. (2005) reported associations with smoking behavior. As extraversion is known to be associated with lifestyle, obesity and substance abuse, we deem BDNF to be an interesting candidate gene for extraversion in future studies, along with CRTAC, ADAM12 and RELN.
