Over time, probands’ spouses and children age 18 or older were asked to participate in the SDPS protocol. Beginning at the time of the proband’s age 35 interview these spouses and offspring age ≥ age 18 were interviewed with an adult SSAGA-based instrument similar to the one used with probands to evaluate their own demography, alcohol, and drug-related histories. If that relative had consumed at least a full drink on any occasion they also filled out the SRE questionnaire.
