The suppression effects of Cyp1b1 deletion on adiposity and liver steatosis are retained in both male and female mice from 6 to 36 weeks of age. We have identified likely participants in this novel external modulation of hepatocyte activity by Cyp1b1 metabolism by focusing on similarly conserved gene responses. A small group of genes have been identified in this way, which have each been implicated in fatty acid homeostasis, including Scd1 and a subset of PPARα-regulated genes.
