In December 2009, a group of researchers expert in large-scale neuroimaging or large-scale genetics studies formed a network called “Enhancing NeuroImaging Genetics through Meta-Analysis” or ENIGMA. The goal of the effort was to bring together researchers with genome-wide data and images, to meta-analyze evidence in neuroimaging datasets worldwide (see Fig. 2).
