legalization of medical marijuana and changes in state suicide rates over the period 1990–2007 (Anderson et al., 2014). Their results suggested that legalization of medical marijuana led to a decrease in suicide rates. Specifically, they reported that legalization was associated with a 5% decrease in the suicide rate for men overall, about a 10% decrease in the suicide rate of men aged 20 through 29, and a nearly 14% decrease in men aged 30 through 39.
