Alcohol use disorder (AUD)1 is one of the most prevalent mental health conditions worldwide2, with harmful effects on physical, cognitive, and social functioning3. Chronic excessive alcohol consumption is associated with direct and indirect adverse effects, including (but not limited to) cardiovascular disease4, nutritional deficiency5, cancer6, and accelerated aging7–9.
