Given the interplay of these genetic, environmental, and developmental processes, a sensible prediction is that specific genes will be most reliably associated with the developmental characteristics of EXT disorders, especially an early onset and persistent course. As EXT disorders are of substantial public health importance, our hope is that continued attempts to integrate multiple processes and approaches will yield important insights into their etiology.
