In conclusion, we have presented an application of complex network theory to the analysis of functional brain connectivity and to the study of its correlation with observed social behaviors. Indeed, many of the theoretical results obtained in the last few years in the field of complex networks are still waiting to be exploited in the field of neuroscience, and could potentially give us a better insight into the structure and meaning of complex biological systems, as they have already done with social and technological networks. The fact that graph theoretical indexes can also be used to better understand how the human brain works [19]–[23], suggests that hyper-brain networks can be adopted in the near future as a valuable reference model for further investigations of the mechanisms that are the bases of social empathy [24].
