Chunk #33 — Clinical, Self-Report, and Cognitive Assessments — Cognitive Assessments — The Psychology Experiment Building Language — Stroop Test – Stroop – Color-Word Interference
The Stroop test is a neuropsychological measure assessing processing speed and attention administered by computer (92). This is the only test we are using to assess processing speed. The Stroop interference task, in particular, measures the ease with which a person can shift his or her perceptual set to conform to changing demands. The interference task consists of a series of color words, but the words themselves are colored in a different color ink than the color to which they refer. Participants are required to name the color of the word but not the word itself. Impaired attention/concentration is a common symptom in mood disorders. The administration of this test is about 7–10 min.
