Simultaneous multi-scale recording of neuronal electrical activity is also of interest, e.g., concurrent ECoG, in vivo MEA, and multiple patch-clamp recordings allow for investigating the relationship between oscillations, LFPs, EAPs, IAPs, and subthreshold activity during different brain states. Additionally, other technologies that can enhance MEA experiments are microfluidics for controlled delivery of drugs, chemical sensing to study the biochemistry involved in neuronal function, and measurement of metabolic processes.
