The authors of Cahoy et al.19 purified neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes from mouse forebrain, and made lists of specifically expressed genes available for each of these three cell types, which we downloaded (see URLs). To obtain a list of all genes, we also downloaded a list of all genes that passed quality control in their analysis (Table S3b of Cahoy et al.). We mapped from mouse to human genes using orthologs from ENSEMBL (see URLs).
