A randomized test of an SDM-inspired intervention designed to improve parent/teen relationships found the effects of the program were stronger among African Americans for some outcomes (Haggerty, Skinner, MacKenzie, & Catalano, 2007). What remains untested is the role of parenting behaviors in the link between the intervention and the outcomes.
