Individuals who use both cannabis and tobacco have a markedly elevated risk of respiratory distress, compared with cannabis use or tobacco use alone (99;101). For instance, Moore and colleagues (100) found that even though those who smoked both cannabis and tobacco reported smoking as many cigarettes as those who smoked tobacco alone, there was a considerable elevation in odds of respiratory distress indicators and reduced lung functioning (101)in those who used both.
