al., 2005). GAD2 SNP rs2058725, from this study, is in the same haplotype block and in complete LD with SNP rs701492 which was associated with alcoholism in Han Taiwanese (Loh El et al., 2006). Other GAD2 SNPs showed association with alcoholism in EA (Lappalainen et al., 2007). The CHRM2 5' UTR SNP rs2350780, indicated in this study, is in strong LD with SNP rs1455858 that was associated with alcohol dependence, drug dependence and affective disorders in EA and AA (Luo et al., 2005). This gene may be involved in memory, higher cognition and behavioral effects of drugs of abuse.
