Therefore it is likely that the reduction in LOD score by the inclusion of the discordant family is due to a phenotyping error. While the inclusion of this family has dramatic affect on the linkage analysis it has a negligible affect on the association analysis. Due to irregularity from the reported testing, the whole family was removed from analysis. When the single family was removed, the original LOD score peak was reestablished with the maximum LOD score for 10qter at 3.40.
