For traditional cross-subject inferences, MNE-Python offers several parametric and non-parametric statistical methods. Parametric statistics provide valid statistical contrasts in so far as the data under test conform to certain underlying assumptions of Gaussianity. The more general class of non-parametric statistics, which we will focus on here, do not require such assumptions to be satisfied (Nichols and Holmes, 2002; Pantazis et al., 2005).
