a separate study, Magid & Colder (2007) examined the UPPS Impulsive Behavior Scale (Whiteside & Lynam, 2001) in relation to alcohol use and alcohol-related problems in 267 undergraduates. Of the four factors they identified on this scale, sensation seeking and (lack of) premeditation were related to high alcohol consumption, but not to alcohol-related problems, whereas high scores on the urgency subscale and low scores on perseverance were related to alcohol problems, regardless of level of alcohol use.
