Our large sample size allowed us to identify and study 17 distinct cell types in the human caudate nucleus; most correspond well to a recent basal ganglia cell-type atlas of the human brain50. We identified rare interneuron clusters, as well as microglia and oligodendrocytes subtypes not identified in that atlas. Our large caudate-specific atlas sheds more light on the two astrocyte subtypes identified therein.
