The Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) is an ongoing epidemiological study of children born from 14,541 pregnant women residing in Avon, UK, with an expected delivery date between April 1991 and December 1992 (85% of eligible population;16). Ethical approval was obtained from the ALSPAC Law and Ethics Committee as well as Local Research Committees. The sample is representative of the general population (17).
