The top panel of Figure 3 shows that FINEMAP is thousands of times faster than CAVIARBF when considering causal configurations with up to three SNPs in Scenario A. The difference in processing time becomes even larger when the maximum number of possible causal SNPs increases (Scenario B) in the bottom panel of Figure 3. CAVIARBF slows down quickly due to the exhaustive search but FINEMAP’s processing time does not increase considerably with increasing K. Importantly, there is no need to restrict the number of causal SNPs in FINEMAP to small values (K≤5) as is necessary for CAVIARBF.
