haplotype set was adjusted by Bonferroni correction, i.e., the conventional α = 0.05 was divided by the number of major haplotypes observed in each case. The LD contrast test (Zaykin et al., 2006) was employed to investigate differences in LD between cases and controls (cf. Yang et al., 2007, for more details), and to infer from the differences evidence of selection of risk variants in the disease group. Population stratification for the case-control sample was tested using the program Structure 2.1. More details regarding the analyses were reported elsewhere (Yang et al., 2007).
