Amplified DNA fragments, 229 base pairs in size, were cloned using the TA Cloning Kit into the pCRII plasmid (Invitrogen). DNA from isolated clones was sequenced in both directions using M13 forward and reverse primers and the Big Dye Terminator Cycle Sequencing Kit (Applied Biosystems). Samples were run on an ABI Prism 3700® capillary sequencer (Applied Biosystems).
