Analyses of ADH1B were conducted within subjects homozygous for ADH1C*1 (ADH1B*3(-)/ADH1C*1 compared to ADH1B*3(+)/ADH1C*1), while analyses of ADH1C were conducted within those homozygous for ADH1B*1.
