of the existing literature. The finding most germane to our study supports the notion that alleles increasing AVPR1A expression would decrease marital stability in male subjects (16). It is thus not surprising that the effect sizes for the tests in male and female subjects in our discovery sample differ and do not reach significance in female subjects. It is important to caution that this may also be due to the smaller female sample and thus lower statistical power.
