Increases in mortality from alcohol-induced causes have been reported in the United States during the past 2 decades.1 Recent reports have largely focused on the contributions of alcohol to increasing rates of premature mortality among white US residents aged 25 to 64 years.2,3,4,5 However, increases have also been reported among other groups.1,3,5 Comprehensive assessments of trends in alcohol-induced mortality by sex, age, and race/ethnicity are lacking.
