of subjects originally interviewed at the time of the 5-year follow-up were identified. Three hundred ninety-one were not located, and 718 were interviewed (Figure 1). Of those interviewed, three subjects provided incomplete information, and 132 did not meet inclusion criteria for the present analysis, as they did not qualify for a SUD at the age of screening, leaving 583 subjects for this analysis. Comparisons between those followed at 15 years with those interviewed only at the 5-year follow-up revealed that males were underrepresented in the 15-year follow-up group. Fifty-two percent of interviewees were male at the 5-year follow-up compared with 40% at the 15-year follow-up (Chi-square p<0.001). Other characteristics were similar between groups, including screening group, age at screening, education group, ethnicity, number of DWIs, and lifetime psychiatric disorders.
