Religiosity was assessed using five items from the Adolescent Health and Development Questionnaire (Jessor and Jessor 1977), often referred to as the Value on Religion Scale, that assess how important different aspects of religion are to the individual. Participants were asked, “How important is it to you”: To be able to rely on religious counsel or teaching when you have a problem? To believe in God?To rely on your religious beliefs as a guide for day-to-day living? To be able to turn to prayer when you're facing a personal problem? To attend religious services regularly?
