Text

Participants were classified according to their usual alcohol drinking habits. Four groups were defined: never drinkers; former drinkers; regular drinkers; and binge drinkers. The alcohol measurement unit used was the drink. Half drinks or quarter drinks were also used to estimate quantities. One drink of alcohol was standardised as 10-12 g of ethanol.
