PAINTOR does not use an explicit prior on k but restricts k≤3 in practice. The default prior used by CAVIARBF builds on that of CAVIAR and assumes that each SNP is causal with probability 1/m and that k≤5. This is a special case of our prior when we set pk=(mk)(1m)k(m−1m)m−k and renormalize for K = 5 except that CAVIARBF assigns non-zero prior also for the null configuration k = 0.
