Viewed another way, a GxE interaction may be interpreted as follows: individuals with genetic influences predisposing them to AD will be more likely to develop AD symptomatology if they are exposed to alcohol at an early age. A GxE interaction would therefore imply that, even in the presence of genetic vulnerability, delaying exposure to alcohol use will reduce the emergence of AD symptomatology.
