As would be expected of longitudinal studies involving multiple family members, there were incomplete data for some participants at one or more of the three assessments. Although all 197 families provided complete self-report data at the 12 month assessment, 7 families had missing data for the observational indices of parenting (2 mothers and 5 fathers), primarily due to technical difficulties with the recording equipment. One-hundred eighty-eight mothers and 185 fathers provided complete data at the 24 month visit. One-hundred seventy mothers and 166 fathers provided complete data at the 36 month visit. There were no group differences between families with missing vs. complete data on the parenting variables. There were group differences between families with missing vs. complete data at the 24 and 36 month assessments on marital satisfaction. Mothers who had missing data at the 24 month assessment had lower marital satisfaction scores compared to mothers who had complete data at this assessment (M=85.56, SD=26.07 and M=102.23, SD=26.11 respectively); fathers who had missing data at the 24 month assessment had lower marital satisfaction scores compared to fathers who had
