Total RNA was extracted in batches using the RNeasy Mini Kit from cells collected in the RLT reagent following the manufacturer’s instruction using an additional DNase step to minimize contamination with genomic DNA (Qiagen). Total RNA was quantified by NanoDrop and Bioanalyzer for a subset of samples (Bioanalyzer RNA 6000 Nano Kit, Agilent).
