In addition, further adjustments for mother's BMI only partially attenuated the other associations seen between earlier mother's menarche and larger size of her children at 9 y: height (0.35 cm/y; p < 0.001), body weight (0.54 kg/y; p < 0.001), BMI (0.18 kg/m2/y; p < 0.001), fat mass index (0.14 kg/m2/y; p < 0.001), and lean mass index (0.03 kg/m2/y; p = 0.002).
