Although many sources have specified endophenotype criteria (Almasy & Blangero, 2001; Cannon & Keller, 2006; Doyle, et al., 2005; Gottesman & Gould, 2003; Iacono, 1985; Iacono, 1998; Iacono & Lykken, 1979; Kendler & Neale, 2010; Skuse, 2001), developmental considerations have not received prominent emphasis. In Table 1 we embrace a developmental perspective to expand on our past contributions to endophenotype identification (Frederick & Iacono, 2006; Iacono, Carlson, & Malone, 2000; Iacono, Malone, & McGue, 2003).
