Text

PGC published the results of a GWAS mega-analysis of MDD comprising 9,240 cases and 9,519 controls across 9 primary samples, all of European ancestry.64 Although this was the largest sample to date, no SNP reached genome-wide significance. The most significant SNPs in the discovery sample were rs11579964 (p=1.0 × 10-7), a variant closest to several genes (CNIH4, NVL, WDR26) and rs7647854 (p=6.5 × 10-7) a variant closest to C3orf70 and EHHADH. However, these findings were not supported in a large independent replication sample.
