Accordingly, we can postulate that these LncRNAs within ADH cluster might regulate the expression of the ADH genes and might be functional components of the pathways through which the ADH variants influenced risk for alcohol dependence. Alteration of the expression for these LncRNAs in alcoholics deserves to be tested in the future, to investigate the cis-acting regulatory effects of risk variants within or proximate to these LncRNAs on the expression levels.
